Bitcoin Design Foundation, Research sprints and design

Sliding in with another weekly share. This week was similar to last week, a bit like a cake with a lot of different toppings on it. The cake itself would be the the work done we did on the foundation, a great collaborative effort between Christoph, Daniel and myself.

The toppings on the cake would be the other projects that we dove into this week. Is is an idea to sprinkle some cake toppings all throughout this post?

🎂Foundation

A chunk of the week was spent on the foundation and so this is the cake itself. Operationally there are many questions to answer and to consider. Such as how to attract talent and identifying which projects/initiatives would benefit the ecosystem. Operationally we are in the process phase now which is pretty much putting together a whole bunch of plans and documents as all the finer details come together.

🥣Research sprints

🍓Jumped on a call with Edi and Elena this week as well to move forward the JAM sprint. We continued to tweak the user interview script and next week we’ll jump into the telegram channel and connect with users there and set up some calls. Later on in the week we moved into the bucketing of the research interviews that were done on 🍒 Bitcoin Core. A task that Saunter and Honeybadger have been really helpful with. We jumped on a call and began the process bucketing the data. There is still a whole bunch of work to be done in this sorting process and so will spend some time on it next week. Ideally we are aiming to understand the Jobs to be done of the GUI as well as the persona.

🍫Design review: Etta wallet

We also jumped on a call with Collin the builder behind Etta wallet. It’s really great to see the work that he has done on the wallet. Etta wallet is a lightning wallet and is a working open-source implementation of the Daily Spending Wallet. Created a quick summary of the call as well.

☕️ Some design coffee at the end..

The end of the week spent working on some designs for the Bitcoin dev project. We chatted about the information architecture and are ideating on the pathways and which pages would need to be built out.
